A year after Ryo Fukui's first album "Senery" released in 1976, his second album "Mellow Dream" was also newly remastered from the original tapes and released on SACD after 50 years. Two days were set aside for recording, and Ryo Fukui's first original songs "Mellow Dream" and "Horizon" were included on this album. Mellow Dream" is especially popular as a lyrical piece that touches the heartstrings of the Japanese. The interpretations of the standard numbers "My Foolish Heart" and "My Funny Valentine" are also excellent. The sorrowful melodies, fast-moving ad-libs, and rhythmic development of the songs are simply irresistible. The performers have all passed away, but the music here remains lively enough to make one weep. (C)RS
