Muchamucham Feat. Zee Avi – Day By Day (7″)

Fukuoka-based Asian exo band MuchaMuchaM, whose debut album Qantikala drew widespread attention both in Japan and internationally, has released a collaborative EP featuring singer-songwriter Zee Avi from Borneo as the vocalist.

The two acts deepened their connection after sharing the Co-Write stage at The Creators event held in front of Fukuoka City Hall in 2023, leading them to take on the challenge of creating an exotic Asian sound that transcends national borders.

The EP includes the modern acoustic classic “Day By Day” (Side A-1), a cover of the Folk Crusaders’ universally beloved song “Kanashikute Yarikirenai” (Side A-2), as well as the Asian dance track “Oyasumi na Sayang” (Side B), sung in Malay.

The jacket artwork is an original illustration inspired by the island of Borneo, newly created by Fukuoka-based illustrator TOYAMEG.

2023年福岡市役所前で行われたThe CreatorsのCo-Writeステージをきっかけに親交を深めた両者が、国境を超えたアジアのエキゾティックサウンドにチャレンジ。

モダンアコースティック名曲A-1 “Day By Day”、誰しもが口ずさめるフォーククルセイダーズ A-2”悲しくてやりきれない”カヴァーに、マレー語で歌うアジアンダンスSIDE-B”Oyasumi na Sayang”を収録。

ジャケットは福岡を拠点とするイラストレーターTOYAMEGによるボルネオ島をイメージした描き下ろし。
