, a legendary band in the US alternative and lo-fi scene, reunited in 2022 and toured Japan the following year in 2023, and enjoys countless fans both in Japan and around the world. With the recent announcement of the biopic, "Pavements," fans have been buzzing about the band's potential involvement, and now Matador Records is releasing the soundtrack.
Pavement is comprised of five members: Mark Ebold, Spiral Stairs (Scott Kannberg), Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich, and Steve West. One of the most beloved bands to emerge from the 1990s American underground, Pavement released five era-defining albums—Slanted & Enchanted (1992), Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (1994), Wowee Zowee (1995), Brighten the Corners (1997), and Terror Twilight (1999)—before disbanding in 1999. Pavement reunited in 2022 to headline Primavera Sound, playing sold-out multi-night shows in Los Angeles, New York, and London. In 2023, they embarked on their first Japan tour in 13 years, with two shows in Tokyo and one in Osaka.
It's hard to believe, but they've finally made it here: sold-out reunion shows, gold records, and a critically acclaimed feature film. This Stockton, California treasure is back on top. Still, many are left wondering, "Who the hell are they?"
