● With her unique warmth and refreshing voice, Lisa Ono is a leader in Japan's Brazilian music scene. In recent years, she has gained immense popularity not only in Japan but also in other parts of Asia.
● This new album, her first in six and a half years, is a duo recording with pianist Masaki Hayashi, who also served as producer. The theme is the songbook of Antonio Carlos Jobim, the founder of bossa nova, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday in January 2027 (this is Lisa Ono's first Jobim collection in 19 years).
● Through the intimate, "duo" sound that allows you to hear each other's breathing, yet also exudes a sense of improvisation, this work captures the essence of Jobim's masterpieces in a fresh way.
● Saxophonist Sadao Watanabe, who introduced bossa nova to Japan in the 1960s, makes a guest appearance on three tracks. The two first met in São Paulo, Brazil, when Lisa Ono was nine years old, and then reunited for the first time in a long while backstage at the Tsukiji Jam 2025 festival in April 2025. This memorable first recording together is a monumental collaboration in the history of Japanese bossa nova.
